In this video I unbox Fluval’s new 6 gallon Betta kit and give you my first impressions before I do the full setup. I’m saving the aquascape for later because I want to “shop it around” the house and find the right spot, but I still pull everything out, look at the design, and talk through the features that matter for a betta tank. The big headline for me: this kit includes a preset heater (78°F / 26°C), plus an “integrated water changer” concept built into the filtration/pump setup. I go deep on the back chamber design—there’s a diffusion chamber meant to keep flow gentle (a longtime complaint with tanks like the Spec 5), a wide intake to reduce the “betta stuck on the intake” problem, and a pump that can redirect water out the side for easier water changes without disturbing the tank. I also check out the included LED (USB powered, simple on/off, touch-style control) and the media layout: sponge, a starter bag of bio media (take it out of the bag!), and an angled carbon insert that’s a little unusual. Fluval also sent a box of extras: replacement diffusion pads and carbon, tropical almond leaves and bark for tannins, mini bags of Stratum for planted setups, Bug Bites betta food, freeze-dried bloodworms, Cycle bacteria booster, and water conditioner. Next up will be the full build—new aquascape, and a proper betta to match.
