Four years later, I finally tore down and reset my BiOrb Air 60—because the first time I set it up (outside, in the fog) was a total pain in the ass. I wanted to see what survived with basically “add water to the mister” levels of maintenance, and honestly it held up better than it had any right to. A couple plants got nuked when I left on vacation and didn’t notice it drying out, but the dragon tongue did great, a fern kept hanging on, and even the isopods were still kicking around in there after all that time. This video is the full clean-out and rescape. I talk through what I’d do differently (like: don’t put sand in there unless you enjoy scratching plastic), how I’m approaching the planting without a rigid plan, and why leaving space to grow matters if you don’t want it to turn tragic fast. I also go over the lid/mister setup, how the mister actually does run when the house gets dry, and why keeping an eye on the water level is a big deal. At the end I add springtails, plan to boost the dairy cow isopods, and I can’t help myself—I toss in some last-minute hardscape and a little 3D-printed “whimsical” feature to give it a focal point while everything grows in.
