In this video I put the Harman Kardon Aura Studio 4 up against the Aura Studio 3 in a straight sound quality comparison, with sound tests to help you hear the differences for yourself. I run through drums (treble and bass), sub-bass, mids, a full mix test, and even a low-frequency sweep to check for weird vibrations. If you’ve been wondering whether the new Aura Studio 4’s redesign and multicolored ambient lighting also brings a real audio upgrade, this is exactly what I set out to answer. On design and features, both speakers look beautiful—especially in low light—but I give the edge to the Aura Studio 4 for the multicolored “light crystals” and the way the lighting moves with the music. The Studio 4 also adds multi-point pairing, which the Studio 3 doesn’t have. For bass, I found something surprising: the Aura Studio 3 actually has slightly deeper bass energy, while the Studio 4 sounds deep, punchy, and tight—like Harman Kardon dialed it back to keep composure and reduce vibrations. In the end, my overall sound quality winner is the Aura Studio 4 for detail and clarity, but I also share an important Studio 3 reliability update from my own unit.
