In this video I put the Harman Kardon Aura Studio 4 head-to-head with the brand new Aura Studio 5, focusing on the two things you actually care about: sound quality and real-world features. I ran both speakers through sound tests (including an isolate mix test, multiple tracks, and a bass sweep), then broke everything down by design, connectivity, and performance—so you can decide which one fits your setup and your budget. Design-wise, both keep that iconic transparent dome look, but they go in different directions inside. I personally love the bold, artistic internal detailing on the Aura Studio 4, while the Aura Studio 5 goes cleaner and adds a much brighter, projector-style ambient lighting effect that fills the room. Where the Studio 5 really changes the game is features: AuraCast support, Bluetooth 5.4, and—finally—Harman Kardon One app control for EQ, lighting, connections, and firmware updates. The app also lets the speaker wake from standby without touching it, which is simply amazing. For sound, both bring deep bass, but the Studio 5 hits deeper and feels tighter and more controlled, especially at higher volumes. Surprisingly, I found the Studio 4 has more high-end clarity and shine, but the Studio 5 sounds more polished and balanced overall, with cleaner mids and better composure. My overall winner is the Aura Studio 5, and if you’re new to the Aura lineup, I recommend going straight for it.
