“9-5 workers are lazy.” “Being your own boss is where it’s at, forget working for someone else.” “Entrepreneurs don’t have any structure or stability.” These are just some of the things I’ve heard entrepreneurs say about career professionals, aka 9 to 5 workers, and vice versa. I hate to see these talented groups of people attack and shade one another simply because they each took a different path in life to make an income or earn a living for themselves. It’s disappointing to see entrepreneurs berate and belittle career professionals simply because they don’t work for themselves. There’s absolutely nothing wrong with having an employer in the same way that there’s nothing wrong with working for yourself. Since I’m both – a small business owner who still works a 9 to 5 – I felt compelled to give my thoughts on this topic and provide some clarity to both parties. Working a full-time job has its pros and cons the same way running a business does. What it really boils down to is doing what’s best for you, no matter the reason why. Let’s talk about it.
