There are two main reasons why you may find yourself involuntarily unemployed – you were either fired or laid off. Unfortunately, I’ve experienced both in my career multiple times. As a result, I have deep knowledge surrounding each and how they differ and how they are the same. For example, with getting fired you’re typically (not all times) at fault and there may not be any warning signs. With getting laid off, you (most times) have access to a severance package and resources to help you prepare for your job search. While neither is fun, it’s important to understand each so you know how it affects or guides your next step in terms of potentially applying to work with the company again and being eligible for unemployment. I would like to mention that whether you were fired or laid off, there shouldn’t be any shame. What matters most is moving forward to secure your next best opportunity. In this video, I break down the clear difference between getting fired and getting laid off. I hope you find this helpful! Be sure to like, share, and SUBSCRIBE! __ Want more career content from me?
