When a jobseeker starts to search for a new job, a common question that pops in their head is: “Should I tell my boss that I am considering leaving the company?” I’ve mentioned in many of my videos that companies very rarely give us notice when we, as employees, are: • Laid off • Fired • Suddenly unemployed after the company shuts down While being transparent and honest with your manager is a good best practice, disclosing to them that you’re on the hunt for a new opportunity can be a good thing AND a bad thing to do. In this video, I go over the pros and cons of letting your boss know that you’ve decided to hit the job search streets. Cons include: • Facing retaliation • Experiencing unfair mistreatment I also give some reasons why it may be in your best interest to keep this information private.
