The NF Audio NM2+ is a $170 offering that really doesn't do anything very well. It is an odd almost W-shaped signature with middling technicalities. For its price I don't see too much worthwhile with it and I feel the Moondrop KXXS is overall a much better pick for similar money. Big thanks to Shenzhen Audio for providing these for review! About This Video

In this video I review the NF Audio NM2+—a $170 “dual cavity” dynamic driver IEM—and explain why it really doesn’t do anything particularly well for the money. I go over the basics (18 ohms, 108 dB/mW, QDC-style 2-pin), the build, and the accessories. The shell is a nice-looking 5-axis CNC metal body and the stock cable is actually solid, but comfort was a miss for me: the inner-ear contact point and the odd nozzle taper made it hard to get a consistent seal and I couldn’t wear them for long. Sound-wise, the NM2+ comes off as an odd, almost W-shaped tuning with a big ~6–7 dB bass shelf that leans more mid-bass than sub-bass. The mids/treble are where it gets annoying for me: there’s a bothersome peak around ~4.5–5 kHz and another around ~8–9 kHz, plus a weird thinness around ~800 Hz to 1 kHz. On simple tracks it can sound okay, but the moment you throw anything busy at it—rock, orchestral, anything with multiple instruments—it gets muddy fast, with low-res treble, poor imaging, and surprisingly bad timbre for a DD. For similar money, I’d take the Moondrop KXXS instead, and if you want cheaper, the Starfield is basically the move.
