In this cozy day in my life vlog, I’m basically trying to do everything in one day… and paying the price. Earlier I met up with a college friend I haven’t seen in literally five years, grabbed a hot matcha, and caught up—then I came home because it was 10° but felt like -15. I also shared my big news: I got selected for the Brooklyn Half Marathon (and my husband got in too), which still feels unreal because I’m never the one who gets picked in raffles. Training officially started for me, and I did my long run on the treadmill since it’s way too cold outside. After the gym, it was full wash day mode because I’m heading to Harlem to get braids done. I took out my sew-in (carefully, because I’m not trying to cut my hair again), shampooed, deep conditioned, and blow dried—aka the whole exhausting process. I started around 4 p.m. and didn’t finish until 8 p.m., and yes, I made the rookie mistake of making plans on wash day. My scalp was sore, the bathroom was a mess, but my hair felt thick, soft, and ready for my appointment. To end the night, I opened an early birthday surprise from my mom—natural homemade almond shea butter, some super cute Valentine’s-themed pieces, and a candle that smelled amazing. I wrapped up with a late Chipotle bowl (with the chimichurri sauce—trust me) and a little wind-down before my early braiding appointment.
