About This Video

It’s a strange feeling training your entire life for one thing and then, on a random Saturday at 6 p.m., it’s just… over. In this video I talk about not making it—about the pressure I built up over a year of nonstop training and documenting the journey, and how that weight started spilling into everything else: balancing a full-time job and content creation, my relationships, and even having serious thoughts of quitting. I’m not making this to complain. I’m genuinely okay, and I wanted to share it for anyone out there chasing something that feels impossible. When I stopped obsessing over the one outcome (like making the Olympics) and reflected on what I actually did, it hit me: I woke up motivated, pushed my limits every practice, reached goals I didn’t think I could touch, reconnected with teammates, made lifelong friends, and learned what I’m capable of. Turns out it’s quite a lot. After the trials, I didn’t know where to focus my effort—try again in four years, or let it go. For now I’m adapting to a new chapter: exploring San Francisco, picking up running and basketball (even though I’m not built for land sports), and reconnecting with my girlfriend, family, and friends. I’m taking it easy, but I don’t think I can fully separate myself from the water—and honestly, I’d do it all over again.
