People see me sleeping in my SUV, cooking dinner in a parking lot, or quietly slipping into a spot for the night and they jump straight to: “Are you homeless?” or “Are you poor?” So in this video I just answer it all — honestly. I’m out on a late-fall hike at Whiskey Rapids Trail, then I walk you through why I stealth camp, what it costs to travel this way, and the difference between car camping by choice versus doing it because you have no other option. And for the record: I’m married, I’m not living in my car full-time, and I’m not doing this because I’m desperate — I’m doing it because I love the freedom. I also get super practical: ventilation, condensation, safety as a solo female traveler, and yes — the bathroom question. I show how I think about sleeping space in my RAV4 (including measuring it out), how I handle showers on the road, and where I’m actually comfortable stopping for the night (parks, truck stops, gyms, etc.). It’s part gear-and-logistics, part mindset — and mostly just me trying to explain why this “weird” lifestyle brings me so much joy.
