About This Video

In this homeschool planning video, I’m sharing my “big picture” for 2025–2026 and my early curriculum picks for two students—one heading into grade 6 and one into grade 2. This is the first video in a planning series, so I’m not locking everything in yet, but I am narrowing down options and talking through what I’m leaning toward in each subject. My homeschool tends to live in that Charlotte Mason + Classical overlap, so you’ll hear me balancing solid skill work (especially in math and language arts) with rich books and thoughtful habit-building. I walk through my short list for math (including Math-U-See, IXL, Beast Academy, and Primary Mathematics/Singapore-style options) and then I move into language arts: grammar (First Language Lessons and Grammar for the Well-Trained Mind), writing (Writing With Ease and Writing & Rhetoric), literature/reading, spelling (Spelling Workout), and vocabulary (Wordly Wise). From there I share what I’m considering for science (Berean Builders/Apologia/Sonlight Science), history (Story of the World, Without Doors, Under the Home), and a few of our “mother culture” and enrichment pieces like Shakespeare (Folger), Plutarch (Anne White), Latin (Prima Latina), French, and artist/composer study. If you’re planning a CM/Classical year with elementary and middle school students, this should give you a realistic starting point and a lot of curriculum leads to research.
