In this August monthly reset, I’m taking you along as I reset my routines, systems, and honestly my mindset before the new school year starts. If you’re a teacher-mom (or truly anyone who just needs a little structure heading into back to school season), this is the kind of reset that helps me feel more prepared and a lot more intentional. I’m walking through the things that keep my home and school life from feeling chaotic—like getting clear on what I want this season to look like and setting up simple systems I can actually stick with. I start with a vision board and then move into habit, goal, and mood tracking so I can see what’s working (and what’s not) without overcomplicating it. From there, I focus on toddler routines and personal routines—because for me, if our home rhythms aren’t steady, everything else feels harder. I’m a third-grade teacher in Maine and a mom to a toddler and baby boy, and with our family walking through my husband’s colon cancer journey, I’m always looking for routines that support real life, not perfection.
