This is part one of my Classroom Setup 2024 series, and we’re kicking things off by doing the not-so-glamorous but very satisfying first step: taking down my old boards and starting fresh with a brand new classroom theme. I’m a third grade teacher in Maine (and a mom to a toddler and baby boy), so I’m all about making my room feel calm, functional, and doable to maintain once the school year actually starts. In this video, I’m cleaning up what was there before, rethinking what I want students to see and feel when they walk in, and putting up new bulletin boards to match the direction I’m going this year. I also share what I’m using and where I’m shopping as I plan out the rest of setup—because I know classroom decor can get expensive fast, and I’m trying to be intentional about what I buy and what I reuse.
