When it comes to Claude Code, your PC actually doesn’t matter—and in this video I show you exactly why. I demo Claude Code Desktop running locally on my Windows machine, then I switch the session over to a remote VPS via SSH and you can immediately see the difference: the remote box is Linux, with a totally different server time. That’s the point—Claude Code doesn’t have to live on your laptop. It can run on a powerful cloud server while you control it from anywhere. I break down the real reasons to do this: keeping your machine lean, avoiding the “if my laptop dies, my whole project dies” problem, and removing hardware as the bottleneck when you’re building something heavier (I’ve especially seen this help with game dev and ML-ish workloads). Then I walk you through the full setup: spinning up a VPS (I use Hostinger because it’s the easiest I’ve found), installing Claude Code on the server, generating SSH keys locally, adding your public key to authorized_keys, and finally adding the SSH connection inside Claude Code Desktop. Once it’s connected, you can pick a folder on the remote machine (like a /projects directory) and just build—on any device.
