About This Video

If you're building software in 2026 and you’re not using Claude Code, you’re already falling behind. In this beginner tutorial I walk you through what Claude Code actually is (an agent that can access your real codebase), why it’s such a big deal for vibe coders and experienced devs, and how to get it installed on Windows/macOS/Linux using the native terminal install. Then I show you how to open Claude inside a project folder, run your first session, and choose between logging in with a Claude subscription or using an Anthropic API key (I’ll tell you straight: the subscription is usually the best move if you’re going to use this seriously). From there I set up Claude Code inside VS Code (or Cursor) and show the terminal workflow plus the VS Code extension UI. We cover the slash commands you actually need: /terminal-setup for multiline prompts, /context to watch your token usage, /clear, /exit, and resume. I also show how to switch models with /model, when to keep thinking mode on, how “accept edits” changes the workflow, and how planning mode helps you generate a proper implementation plan before touching code. Finally, I build a Kanban-style to-do app end-to-end, test it, fix a persistence bug, and demonstrate deep-dive/sub-agents for code review. This is the exact workflow I use to ship faster: plan small, implement, test, then spin up review agents to catch issues before you move on.
