I took my son on his first ride on his 2023 CRF125F and he had is first crash. Can his 125F keep up with the CRF300F or is the 300F too much bike to follow the 125F? About This Video

In this one I took my son out for his first real ride on his 2023 CRF125F, and yeah… he got his first little crash out of the way. We’re only a few miles down the road, but it was a perfect “first big trip” for the 125—real trail, some soft dirt, a couple hills, and enough little obstacles to make him work on clutch control and shifting without getting in over his head. I was on my CRF300F and the whole point was seeing if the 300F is just too much bike to follow a 125F around. With the gearing I’m running, my second and third line up pretty close to where he’s riding, so it actually made it easier to pace him and not just disappear. The big takeaways: the 125F can absolutely keep up for family trail riding, but you’ve gotta shift sooner and stay smooth on the clutch so you’re not over-revving. Also, we’re back to me complaining about gear hauling—Z-track in the Chevy is amazing, and after messing with straps again I’m pretty set on putting Z-track in the Ram too.
