Recreating the Genius WWII Ammo Box (a Memorial Project)

This project startled me like no other. It so amazed me I needed to make a second box, just so I could record the detail I found in making the first one, which went on to be a part of a memorial for a few days in November. Thousands of these and similar boxes were made during WW2 and the thought that went into them is astounding. Be sure to read the article if you are a history buff, or just want to know a tiny piece of history of that era. Using minimal woodworking tools, and often unskilled labor these boxes were put to work. With literally no table saws, small jointers or planers with pretty much only big industrial machinery in saw mills people came together for a cause to help their own family, friends and relatives as they went to battle in areas around the world.
