Join Colin for some shop tips as he demonstrates the process of making a magnetized push stick for the Bandsaw. Then he goes on to show 2 more jigs for the stationary belt sander for accurate chamfers and work-in-progress for a sizing jig. But there's more, using Stair Guides beyond their primary design, for accurate square and measuring extensions. =============== Genius Woodworking Tips & Jigs You’ve Been Missing Read Full Article Here - https://www.woodworkweb.com/ *NEW* - Dowelmax Affiliate - https://dowelmax.com?aff=16 *** Wagner Meters Affiliate - https://shop.wagnermeters.com/?ref=COLINKNECHT *** Taylor Tools Affiliate Store - https://lddy.no/18zkg *** Amazon Affiliate Store - https://www.amazon.com/shop/woodworkweb *** Magswitch Affiliate Store - https://magswitch.com/en-ca?ref=048uewsz-WAk *** Merch & T-SHIRTS - https://teespring.com/stores/woodworkweb-2 **** Subscribe here - https://www.youtube.com/user/knecht105 ** Like me at Facebook: https://goo.gl/DLgvoa ** Visit the website: http://www.woodworkweb.com ** Follow on Instagram - https://www.instagram.com/colinknecht ** Follow on Twitter: https://twitter.com/woodworkweb

About This Video

Today’s video is just a bit of tips and tricks and jigs—exactly the kind of practical shop stuff that makes woodworking safer and a whole lot easier. I start by remaking one of my bandsaw push sticks, but this time I’m embedding a magnet so it lives right on the saw where I need it. I also drill a small hole behind the magnet so I can push it out later when it finally gets chewed up, then I glue it in with thick CA and use accelerator on the magnet for an instant bond. A little tape over top helps keep the magnet from trying to pull out months down the road. From there I show a couple upgrades and jigs around the bandsaw and belt sander. On the bandsaw, I’ve got a simple reminder tag that hangs over the switch so I don’t forget to release blade tension, and I walk through how a magnetic bandsaw fence helps compensate for drift by setting the fence to the angle your blade actually wants to cut. On the belt sander, I demonstrate a quick chamfer jig (including a 45° setup) so multiple parts—like table legs—come out uniform every time. And finally, I show a work-in-progress sizing jig for thin stock (more “sizing” than sanding), plus one of my favorite “use what you’ve got” tricks: stair guides for getting accurate inside cabinet measurements and extending your measuring setup.
