DIY Spalted Wood - Did I Fail?

I have always loved the look of spalted wood with all the contrasting lines, and the different tones of wood colors. All of the spalted wood I have used has spalted naturally, but it is always very similar in its look and I have long wanted to find spalting with a bit of color. Then one day I found a piece of a maple firewood log, with spalting on the inside and it was GREEN. With this green spalting, maybe I could create my own fungus culture to grow my own green spalted wood. But .. was it really green spalt that I found, I don't think so, It looks suspiciously like the green from oxidized copper ... maybe that's why my DIY spalting experiment failed.
