About This Video

If you’ve just started using Logic Pro, I guarantee you’ve made at least one of these mistakes—and it’s probably slowing you down or holding your mixes back. In this video I break down 5 HUGE Logic Pro mistakes I see all the time, and I show you exactly how to fix them so you can move around Logic faster and start getting more pro results. We start with project setup: sample rate, naming and color coding, and (most importantly) buffer size—because the wrong buffer will mess with your latency when you’re recording or playing MIDI. Then I get into the mix side of things: don’t use the master fader to turn down your session (I literally had a mastering file clipping because of this). I also talk about gain staging—keeping your signal in a healthy range before it hits your plugins, using pre-fader metering, and tools like Logic’s Gain plugin (or a console-style plugin across channels) to keep everything consistent. I’m also calling myself out for overloading tracks with plugins; it’s a bad habit that can degrade the sound and kill that open, punchy transient feel. Finally, I show why sends and buses are non-negotiable for reverbs/delays, and I add a bonus tip: learn key commands (Command+D, X, Shift+Command+D, and the marquee tool setup) to seriously speed up your workflow.
