Metal detecting along the sandy beaches anywhere is fairly difficult unless you have a beach scoop/sand scoop. Instead of paying hundreds of dollars for one, I salvaged metal from an old oven, a speaker, and a shovel handle to make my sand scoop. It was simple, but not easy, if that makes sense. I used it and it held up well for me. When I get the chance, I will be buying one, though. They're just about as crucial as owning a pinpointer! Happy Hunting.
