Nearly every year, I go to Avalon, located on Catalina Island, just off the coast of California. Every year I've metal detected there, I have found jewelry without fail. It's been fabulous! This year didn't disappoint. I found a necklace piece and a ring. Both are sterling silver and cleaned up beautifully. The beaches in California are great, but the beach at Catalina Island has hard pack just a few inches below the sand. This makes it much easier to keep the heavy stuff right where you want it. In this video, I try to give some good tips for beach detecting and how to find gold and silver among other fun items in the sand. I'm not using the best beach metal detector for the job because I'm in between beach detectors at the moment. I hope to have one by summer. I hope you enjoy the show!
