In this video I’m taking Teddy (my German Shepherd) out for one of my favorite ways to get him exercise: a skate walk. I start from leaving the house, then once the skating starts I talk through why I even switched to a skateboard in the first place—basically it lets Teddy move at a better pace while I’m not out there running myself into the ground. From there I break down my board setup and the little things that make these sessions smoother and safer. I go over practical tips that actually matter when you’re rolling with a big dog: how I manage speed, how I keep things predictable, and what I pay attention to so I’m not getting yanked off the board. I also spend a good chunk of time on leash vs. harnesses—what I’ve learned, what I prefer, and why it changes the whole feel of the walk. We finish up cruising around a new development, then I wrap it up with more thoughts on gear choices and handling so you can build a routine that keeps you and your dog confident.
