In this session, I walk you through how to read and understand your financial statements—because once your bookkeeping is done (whether you did it yourself or a bookkeeper prepared it), it’s your responsibility to understand the data before you make decisions. I explain why financial statements matter: they help you make informed decisions, track growth, profitability, and cash flow, and they’re essential for funding, taxes, and strategy planning. I also remind you that banks and lenders will ask for your financials first, and if the numbers don’t support the loan, your application can be rejected. I focus on the three core reports: the Profit & Loss (income vs. expenses over a period), the Balance Sheet (assets, liabilities, and equity—your business “health”), and the Cash Flow Statement (cash in vs. cash out, broken into operating, investing, and financing activities). I show you what to look for, how to spot red flags like declining revenue, repeated losses, increasing liabilities, negative cash flow, and poor collections, and what your numbers may be telling you—like pricing issues, expenses that are too high, or weak cash management.
