About This Video

In this video I do a deep dive on how the riding modes work on my 2025 Honda Rebel 1100T DCT. I walk you through the factory modes—Rain, Standard, and Sport—right on the TFT using the left-hand thumb stick (menus > settings > function > riding mode). I also break down what each tuning value actually changes on the DCT model: engine power output, engine braking, DCT shift aggressiveness, and traction control. The big takeaway is that each mode really does feel like a different bike, and knowing what Honda set from the factory helps you pick the right mode for the day. After the menu walkthrough, I ride the same stretch of road in each mode and describe what I’m feeling. Rain mode is super subdued with low power and low engine braking, but high traction control—perfect for wet roads or newer riders. Standard is my “middle of the road” mode, but it likes to short-shift and chug at low RPM (weird at first if you come from manuals). Sport is the full-beans mode—quick, fun, and great for twisties with stronger engine braking, but it can get twitchy in stop-and-go traffic. Then I build a Custom mode that keeps Standard’s balance but bumps the DCT shift points higher, and for everyday commuting it ended up being “much, much better” for how I like a bike to feel.
