About This Video

So, this is the new OnePlus 15R, and I’ve been daily driving it for a few weeks — and honestly, it’s one of the best bang-for-your-buck phones you can buy right now. Even though it’s priced like a mid-ranger, it really doesn’t feel like one in day-to-day use. The biggest standout for me is the battery: a massive 7,400mAh cell that’s genuinely giving me two full days on a single charge, and it still charges fast at up to 55W (just don’t expect wireless charging here). Performance has been seriously solid too. It’s the first phone to launch with the Snapdragon 8 Gen 5, paired with 12GB RAM and super fast UFS 4.1 storage, and everything from gaming to video editing to bouncing between apps felt smooth with zero hiccups. OnePlus also finally upgraded the fingerprint sensor to ultrasonic, and you can feel the difference — it’s quicker and way more reliable, especially when your fingers are wet or a bit dirty. And speaking of wetness, the water resistance is kind of wild this year, with IP66/68/69 and even 69K for high-pressure heated water. Cameras are where the compromises show: you only get a 50MP main and an 8MP ultrawide, with no telephoto. That said, the main camera surprised me — some shots looked as good as (or better than) much pricier phones. At around $700 (about $100 more than last year), it’s still a seriously impressive package.
