About This Video

I’ve been using the HONOR Magic 8 Pro for a few weeks, and it’s genuinely been a pleasure to daily. This is only the second HONOR phone I’ve used (my first was the Magic V5 foldable), but the big surprise here is the software: Magic OS 10 on Android 16. The lock screen looks gorgeous with great depth effects and smooth animations, and the HONOR Home Launcher is honestly one of my new favorites thanks to widget stacking, resizable folders, and a clean transparency mode. Magic Portal is also one of the best sharing features I’ve used—long press, drag, and drop content straight into another app with zero fuss. Hardware-wise, it’s comfortable in the hand with flat sides and subtle curves, plus serious durability (IP68/IP69/IP69K). The 6.71-inch LTPO OLED is insanely bright (up to 6,000 nits) and super easy on the eyes thanks to 4,320Hz PWM dimming. Performance on the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 feels ridiculously snappy, and the 6,270mAh silicon-carbon battery delivered around 7–8 hours screen-on time for me, with 100W wired and 80W wireless charging (with HONOR’s stand). Cameras are strong across the board, but the 200MP 3.7x telephoto is the star—especially at night and even around 10x zoom. It’s not perfect (haptics and speakers could be better, and I still hate split notifications/quick settings), but overall this is one of the most well-rounded flagships I’ve used in a long time.
