Modular patch panels are great for network and server racks since you can use a number of different types of keystones. However, if you prefer to put patch panels between multiple network switches like I do in order to prevent patch cables from overlapping each other, you may find obtaining access to the rear of the modular patch panel can be challenging. While you could unscrew the patch panel from the rack and pull it forward, this can be difficult as well if you do not have enough slack in your cables, they're getting caught against other devices/shelves mounted in the rack, or they are secured via cable management hooks on the rack. One possible solution to this problem is using a modular patch panel that has removable panels such as the patch panel made by VCELINK. You can remove each of the 4 sections of 6 ports on the 24-port patch panel. This allows you to pull out a few ports at a time so that you can add/remove keystones and plug cables into the back of the panel much more easily than a full length modular patch panel. Disclosure: VCELINK sent me the patch panel for free but opinions are my own.
