Gowin R86S-U4 Mini-PC Firewall/Router Walkthrough and Performance Testing!

Interested in an ultra-compact energy efficient router/firewall/server? In this video I will be taking a look at the Gowin R86S-U4, which is the flagship U series model. The U series models are a new revision on the R86S-G series. I enjoyed testing this hardware with OPNsense. I learned how to enable the 10G interfaces as well how to obtain the maximum performance under various situations. The impact of IDS/IPS is also interesting and demonstrates the limitations of the mobile/embedded processors commonly used in mini-PCs. Although you cannot obtain full 10G bandwidth when running computationally intensive services such as IDS/IPS and VPNs, this system is still quite capable of general routing and firewall tasks as well as limited IDS/IPS on the 2.5G interfaces (such as Zenarmor).
