Extend USB 3.2 Gen 1 (5 Gbps) up to 100m! (Kinan USB Extender)

If you have ever wanted to locate high speed USB (3.0/3.2 Gen 1: 5 Gbps) ports farther away from your system than a standard USB cable will allow, you may be interested in a USB extender. A USB extender can extend the USB signal up to 100m via an Ethernet cable connected between a transmitter and receiver box. Since an Ethernet cable is used to connect the boxes rather than a fiber cable, the length of the cable is limited to the same standard length as a single Ethernet cable run between two network interfaces. Kinan sent me their USB 3.2 Gen 1 extender to try out. Unlike their 4K KVM extender that they sent me earlier, this extender has higher speed USB ports. The 4K KVM extender only supported a 1 Gbps interface which is only fast enough for USB 2.0. The USB extender is able to reach up to 5 Gbps for USB 3.2 connections. However, keep in mind that all of the USB ports will share the same overall bandwidth so you won't be able to transfer up to 5 Gbps on more than one port at the same time. One possible homelab scenario where this device would be useful is if you have a VM running on your server that's located in your basement, closet, etc. and you wish to connect various USB devices to the VM elsewhere in your house. You could also use it to relocate your Zigbee or Z-Wave USB dongle to a more centralized location for your smart home, but this solution would be an expensive way to accomplish that. The USB extender is more suited for need to perform high speed USB transfers in a different physical location that's far outside the reach of a standard USB cable.
