In this video I’m chatting about the most hyped beauty launch from Chanel right now — the CHANEL 31 Le Rouge glass lipstick case — and why I personally won’t be buying it. In Australia it’s $235 AUD for the case with a refill, and honestly… that feels like daylight robbery to me. Yes, it’s refillable, but the design just doesn’t give me that “wow” factor for the price (and the gold detail doesn’t even look like anything special, like 24K plating). It also looks very similar to the clear L’Oréal packaging that costs a fraction of the price. So instead of spending over $200 on a lipstick, I share the beautiful, luxe-feeling alternatives I’d actually recommend — based on packaging, usability, and value. I go through some of my favourites in my collection: Jill Stuart (the most stunning “princess” packaging with a mirror in the lid), a refillable Guerlain case that feels weighty and luxurious, the classic YSL Rouge Volupté Shine, Westman Atelier’s gorgeous black-and-gold liquid balm, Gucci’s vintage-style satin lipstick, and Hermès’ chic refillable balm with a magnetic cap and dust bag. If you love luxury details but still want your money to make sense, these are the buys I’d make instead.
