In this video, I show you how to replace the study area (ROI) in a Google Earth Engine script quickly—without breaking your whole workflow. A lot of people copy a script from another project and then struggle because the geometry, filterBounds, map view, and export region are still pointing to the old location. So I walk through the clean way to do it: define your study area once (as a geometry variable or FeatureCollection) and then make the rest of your code reference that same object. I cover the common ways you’ll bring in a new boundary: importing a shapefile/GeoJSON, loading an asset from your GEE account, or using a FeatureCollection you already have. Then I show the key places you must update so your analysis adapts automatically—things like map.centerObject, filtering collections by bounds, clipping, and especially your Export region so you don’t export the wrong extent. I also share practical tips to avoid errors when changing extents, like handling CRS issues, simplifying very large geometries, and keeping your scripts flexible and reproducible for future projects.
