About This Video

Listen honey, we need to sit down and talk—because if you’re coming to Nigeria for the first time (especially during November through February), my priority is making sure you’re safe. I’ve been living here as a Black American girly for over a year, so I’m keeping it all the way real with you. In this video, I break down my top 3 safety tips for first-time travelers to Nigeria, whether you’re coming for business, tourism, or to see your partner. First tip: do not stay in rural areas your first trip. I’m begging you—stick to bigger, more known areas like Lagos (think Lekki Phase 1, Ikate, and similar city spots) because rural areas can come with higher malaria risk, water issues, and you can get sick fast. Second tip: don’t travel in secret. Tell at least one person your full itinerary, where you’re staying, who you’re visiting, and even consider registering with the US Embassy. Third tip (and this one matters): if you’re visiting your man or your lady, don’t jump into unprotected sex—go together for credible STD testing and blood work first, then move accordingly. Safety first, always.
