I am taking you behind the scenes of how we celebrate in Nigeria, from the trumpet surprise at home to gift opening, family time, and a powerful give back moment in the community. ➡️ Yes, per tradition we had the trumpet come and serenade my husband for his birthday. They sang, they celebrated, and the energy was unmatched. About This Video

Today I’m taking you behind the scenes of my husband’s birthday in Lagos, and baby… Nigerian birthday celebrations are on a whole different level. Per tradition, we had the trumpet come to the house to blow the horn and sing happy birthday, and the energy was unmatched. That’s one thing I love about African culture—when it comes to celebrations, they don’t do it like the Americans do it, okay… to me, they do it better, baby. After the surprise, I sat my husband down so he could open his gifts, because if you know me, you know I do not play about birthdays. But the most meaningful part of the day wasn’t even the gifts—it was the giving. We got fully dressed and headed out with friends and family to cook food, bring drinks, and give back to people who are less fortunate. Before we started, we prayed together because we truly believe there are blessings that come with this kind of giving. We successfully gave out everything we planned, and we’re also working on starting a foundation so we can keep serving communities here in Lagos. More to come, and yes… he still doesn’t know what else I have planned for him later.
