About This Video

In this video I do a deep dive into Gems in Google Gemini—what they are, how they work, and why they’re such a practical way to get more consistent results from AI. I start by explaining what a Gem is (think: a reusable set of instructions and settings you can call on anytime), and then I walk through the premade Gems Google provides so you can see the kinds of tasks they’re designed to help with. From there I show you how to create your own Gem step-by-step, how to actually use it in Gemini, and then how to share it with others. The big takeaway is that Gems let you “bake in” your preferred directions—tone, format, audience, and guardrails—so you’re not retyping the same prompts over and over. Finally, I show my EduGems website where I’m collecting and sharing my favorite school-friendly Gems so educators can quickly explore, copy, and put them to work in real classroom and PD scenarios.
