In this work day in the life, I’m basically easing back into vlogging after being gone for a bit (and yes, I’m still slow at editing). It’s a chill pre-Christmas vibe: I start the day almost missing a meeting, show my updated WFH setup with my new desk placed dangerously close to my bed, and then I get into the real “adulting” stuff—trying to be healthier after gaining quarantine weight. I’ve been cutting carbs, leaning on coffee to curb hunger, and I make a steak salad lunch (with a proper crust and medium rare, because don’t talk to me if you’re doing well-done with A1). After food and some shows I’ve been watching (Startup, Crash Landing On You, Haikyuu, Jujutsu Kaisen, and more), I share two big money lessons from this year: negotiating my San Francisco apartment lease and learning how health insurance actually works. I break down how I got my rent lowered by compiling competitor prices, and I also talk about Invisalign, using an HSA to reduce out-of-pocket costs, and the painful “in-network vs out-of-network” dental lesson from a $480 cleaning.
