In this video, I put AI color analysis to the test on five real people from my community—because if you sew (and you shop your stash), color is not a small thing. We started with the classic “dress color debate” kind of problem: two people can look at the same color and have totally different reactions to it on their skin. So I walk through the basics of color seasons (warm vs. cool, light vs. deep, bright vs. muted) and why knowing your general direction can make your handmade wardrobe look more pulled together—without buying a whole new closet. Then I show you exactly how I used ChatGPT to do the analysis: what photos to take, what prompts to use, and how to interpret the results when the AI is confident… and when it’s clearly guessing. I share the outcomes (including Susan’s results and a summary for Rosemary) and what I’d do differently next time. The big takeaway: AI can be a helpful starting point, especially for narrowing down warm/cool and contrast level, but you still need your own eyes, good photos, and a little real-world testing with fabric and garments you actually wear.
