About This Video

In this video I’m doing something a lot of us say we’re going to do… and then don’t: I’m digging into my sewing stash and actually making decisions. I go through fabric and patterns together, because that’s the easiest way for me to stop buying “pretty fabric with no plan” and start turning what I already own into finished makes. As I’m sorting, I talk through why certain fabrics want certain patterns (drape, stretch, weight, and what I realistically wear), and I make quick “pairing piles” so future-me can just sew. I also chat about organization—nothing fancy, just practical ways to see what you have, keep it accessible, and avoid rebuying the same thing. The big takeaway is to organize in a way that supports your actual sewing habits: keep works-in-progress and planned projects visible, group fabric by how you use it, and give patterns a home where you’ll remember they exist. And if you’re watching on replay, I’d love your best stash and sewing room tips—because I will absolutely compile a list!
