About This Video

In this video I tested the Neakasa Air Step (Niaasa Airep) — a weird-but-cool 2-in-1 setup that’s basically a litter box step with an air purifier built in. I unbox it, show you what comes in the box (power cord, the filter compartment under the top, a litter collection tray, and an extra step insert for shorter-leg cats), and then I set it up with my current litter box to see if it’s actually worth buying. Setup is super simple: you place it right in front of the litter box (mine had no gap), plug it in, and you’re good. There are two buttons — power and fan speed — with a low mode and a max mode where you can really hear the fan working. Then I let my cat B test it out, and after he used the litter box I popped the top off and found that it did collect litter. My takeaway: it’s hard to prove odor removal in a quick test, but I do think it’ll improve the smell a bit since it’s filtering air. The real win here is litter collection — it funnels litter into the step so it doesn’t get tracked all over the floor.
