About This Video

In this video I put two of the most popular slushie makers head-to-head: the Ninja Slushie (on my right) and the Ecoviva Slushie (on my left). I break it down the same way I like to do all my comparisons—starting with the physical differences, then the control panels and features, and then my favorite part: a real-world drink test using the exact same mix in both machines. I was sent the Ecoviva for review, but everything you hear is my honest take. Physically, these machines are more alike than different. The Ecoviva is slightly taller and has a wider frame, plus a touchscreen LCD and a metal ejection handle, while the Ninja is more compact with LED buttons and a plastic ejection handle. For the test, I used Finest Call strawberry puree with filtered water in a 2:1 ratio (16 oz water + 8 oz mix) and ran both on “spike slush” for 30 minutes. The result surprised me: the consistency, temperature (around 33–34°F), and taste were basically identical. Because of that, I’d personally save the $30 and go Ecoviva—unless you really want that slightly more premium feel the Ninja has.
