About This Video

If you’ve been wondering what else to do with your kids at home, I put together three simple DIY activities you can try—going from super easy to a bit more challenging, so there’s something for different ages (especially if you have kids at different stages). Everything is screen-free and low cost, and honestly, you probably already have most of the materials at home. First up is “brushing the hippo’s teeth,” which is amazing for kids ages two and up. I use my free hippo printable (or you can totally draw your own), glue it onto cardboard, tape the two pieces together at the top, and hot glue pistachio shells as the teeth—sometimes we even add play-doh in between for brushing or pretend flossing. Next is a DIY grill pretend play set using boxes, cardboard skewers, and my free skewer printables to speed things up. And last, I show you how to make a matching memory game because… do we have $10 to $20 to buy one online? No—so we make it ourselves. Even if these only keep your little ones busy for a few minutes, it still counts. Every minute counts.
