#WesternAustralia population to hit 3.5 million by 2033 – are we ready for the future? A new report from the Bankwest Curtin Economics Centre (BCEC) finds population growth in Western Australia is economically driven, cyclical and highly responsive to iron ore price, mining investment and labour market demand. Lead researcher and BCEC Director John Curtin Distinguished Professor Alan Duncan said WA’s migration patterns historically followed the rhythm of the resources economy closely.
