I worked with a virtual assistant and hosting expert to test the customer service of the top 7 managed WordPress hosts. What I didn't expect was the overwhelming response to the feedback in that video. And one host in particular really took the feedback to heart. 🌐 Learn how to build a WordPress website for FREE: https://craylor.academy 💬 Join the Craylor Community on Discord (it's free!): https://craylor.link/discord 📞 Book a consultation (we can chat about anything!): https://craylor.link/consultation 🎥 Gear I use: https://craylor.link/kit ☕️ Like my content? About This Video

Three months ago I ran a “secret shopper” project to compare customer service across seven managed WordPress hosts (Kinsta, Hostinger, InMotion, Rocket.net, WP Engine, WordPress.com, and BigScoots). The results were all over the place: BigScoots and Rocket.net led the pack, Kinsta and Hostinger were solid-but-not-special, InMotion struggled with migration communication, and WP Engine plus WordPress.com were where things really went off the rails. WP Engine’s AI chatbot was so aggressive it pushed our tester toward risky database changes, and WordPress.com had a critical failure where a site lockout ticket went unanswered for days. What I didn’t expect was how receptive the industry would be to feedback—especially WordPress.com. This video is me walking through the specific changes they made in a matter of weeks: tuning the AI chatbot to escalate critical issues immediately, fixing the AI-to-human handoff so messages don’t get lost, eliminating live-chat “support blackouts” (live chat is now available every day of the year), expanding time zone coverage, and adding clearer communication throughout the support flow. They even improved email acknowledgements and added richer migration communication (including security and quality reviews). My biggest takeaway: the WordPress community actually cares about feedback, and raising the bar here pressures everyone to do better.
