There’s something about the countryside that fills my heart with an indescribable happiness—maybe it’s the thousands of shades of green, the fruit trees, the quietness, and that fresh, uncontaminated air. In this video I’m taking you with me through a slow day that starts in the hills of Veneto: after a very “yum-yum” birthday celebration (yes, including a huge paella), we went for a long walk to wash the guilt off… hahaha. We also spent a little more time in our friends’ garden, with a light lunch outside—because outdoor lunches in the countryside are honestly one of my favorite things. Back at home, I finally share our minimal kitchen makeover. After two years in this house (and thousands of tomato and oil splashes on the wall), we decided it was time for a backsplash. We debated forever and ended up choosing marble-printed panels—more out of desperation over my cooking mess than a dream design—but as we always tell ourselves: “It’s just temporary!” I also found refined rods at Tecnomat that match the kitchen top, and I used a black vase to hide the interrupted print. And to celebrate, I baked an apple custard cake for apple season. I walk you through my simple custard, the apple prep, and the fluffy batter—plus my little piping-bag struggle (I used an Ikea tube instead).
