Oh, how I love the tranquility of the mountain. In this video I’m sharing a few cozy days between our little mountain life and Milan—where slow living is not just an aesthetic, but actual work for your wellbeing, like constantly tending the fire (and yes… constantly preparing the wood). We bought a new “toy” to make the job easier, and I had a good laugh at myself because once upon a time I only cared about fancy bags—now I’m happy to chicly hold a chainsaw too. After a windy day, the chestnut trees dropped so many chestnuts all over the garden that I couldn’t leave them there to rot, so I picked around 30 kilos and shared them with friends. Back home in Milan, I immediately turned those chestnuts into something delicious: part of them went into a creamy autumn pappardelle sauce with sausage, onion, pumpkin purée, cooking cream, and the finishing touch—chestnuts. The rest became a sweet chestnut cream for the winter (I even sterilized jars), and since I had no vanilla… I added a splash of rum instead. And then, sunshine finally came back, so I took an Evercross EK5 electric folding bike to Iseo on Lake Iseo—about 15 km from our mountain house—for a calm ride through cafés, charming squares, and those peaceful lake-town corners I can’t stop dreaming of exploring.
