About This Video

In this video I’m going over the new Android 15 update for the Lenovo Legion Y700 (2023), but I didn’t want to rush it—I used it for a few days first. Honestly, I think this is the best update Lenovo has done so far. A bunch of the annoying issues from the last build feel like they’ve been cleaned up, and the big one for me—the lock screen bug where the tablet would refuse to unlock after sleeping and basically force a reboot—has been fixed in my testing. Caveat: I’ve only tested that with a PIN this time, not a pattern. I also tested gaming performance (including Call of Duty at 144Hz) and it’s still buttery smooth. I even think I’ve pinned down one of the ā€œtouch not respondingā€ complaints people mentioned on XDA: I only saw that behavior when running the lowest refresh rate, and it went away at 144Hz. Beyond that, I walk through the ROM/version situation so you don’t brick your tablet—global vs China vs NEC (the so-called ā€œfake globalā€ which is really the Japanese NEC ROM). I show where to find the correct firmware mirrors, what to look for in the build numbers, and I highlight subtle Android 15 changes like folder behavior, UI tweaks, grid/icon options, and battery optimizations that seem to improve standby and overall smoothness.
