About This Video

I’ve wanted to do a quick update to my SponsorBlock setup, because iOS has finally caught up in a way that actually works reliably. The big change is Microsoft Edge on iPhone/iPad now supports extensions, and that means you can run SponsorBlock (and stuff like Ghostery/AdGuard) directly in the browser. In the video I walk through installing Edge, going into Settings > Extensions, then Manage Extensions, and getting SponsorBlock enabled. From there, the trick is how you use YouTube. I show it working on both the mobile and desktop variants, and how I like to save YouTube (or a specific site) as a web app using “Add to phone,” so it behaves more like a dedicated app but with SponsorBlock built in. I’ve tried the dedicated SponsorBlock-style apps before and, honestly, I found them really buggy. This Edge + web app approach has been the most consistent method for me on Android, and now it’s finally a solid option on iOS and iPadOS too.
