About This Video

In this video I wanted to do a quick tutorial on how I handle passwords, because it hit me while I was doing banking stuff that I’ve never really covered password security properly. With the UK stepping into what feels like online censorship in absolute overload, it’s even more important to look at all aspects of your security and tighten up your OPSEC. I’m using Proton Pass here—this isn’t sponsored at all—I just genuinely like what Proton are doing on the privacy side, and I’ve been happy using their services. I walk through setting up a fresh Proton account (Proton Mail/Proton) which automatically gives you access to Proton Pass, and I show the browser extension in action using a test login form. Proton Pass can generate a completely random password, auto-save it before you’ve even “registered,” and it can also suggest using an email relay/alias so you’re not handing out your real address everywhere. My approach is simple: I don’t actually know a single password of mine—banking, Gmail, anything—because if I don’t know it, it’s harder for someone else to get it. The only password I remember is the one for Proton Pass itself. I also touch on why I moved away from browser-only password managers (cross-device issues, especially Android), and I show how common data breaches are using real examples. The takeaway: stop reusing passwords, clean up weak ones, and use one password manager that works across everything you use.
