In this video I break down one of the easiest ways to fix that “too light / too thin” guitar sound in live sessions on the Valeton GP-200: your Input Mode. A lot of people keep tweaking amps, EQ, and drives, but if your input mode is wrong, your tone can lose body, sustain, and power in the mix. I show you where to find the setting (the spanner icon in the software, and on the unit) and what the three modes actually do: A.GT, E.GT, and LINE. The big idea is impedance/resistance and how it changes the feel of your signal. E.GT is the default out of the box, but I usually choose LINE because it gives me a more balanced sound and less noise with the way I build my presets. I demonstrate how A.GT and E.GT can push you into noise-gate behavior where your signal gets cut faster (less sustain) unless you lower your threshold—then you may hear trailing noise. I also address the “should I fix it with Global EQ?” question: I don’t start there. I just set my level to 77, and I’m done—try LINE first if your live tone is too bright or light.
